10TH DISTRICT REGULAR MEETING MINUTES
VFW YEAR 2008 -- 2009

Sunday, September 14, 2008
Meeting called to order at 1300 hours.
Officer of the Day checked membership and led the meeting in a salute to the colors and Pledge of Allegiance.
Opening Prayer.
Sate Commander Vince Long and Sate Fair Director Bud Yoakum attending the meeting.
Roll Call of Officers: 7 present, 5 excused. Roll Call of Posts; 10 present, 9 absent. Absent: 2061, 5129, 5410, 8157, 9513, 11463, 11524, 4866, 10399.
Motion to accept the minutes from the last meeting as is. Motion passed.
Quartermaster Report. Please pay your District Dues. Hospitality Room Report submitted. Suggestion made to continue with combines room to save funds since it worked so well. Motion to accept report made by Bud Yoakum, second member from Post6408, motion passed.
Service Officer report made from file provided.
National Home Report. Illinois Day is in October.
Membership Report. If your community is having an activity/event you should be able to use that as an opportunity to recruit new members. Ken Morow wll assist if you need any help. Ken distributed membership application he collected for posts.
Americanism/Loyalty Day Report. Please make sure that you report your activities for credit on the X Sheet.
State Fair Report. 998 hours were worked by the district so teh check shoud be very good.
Remember our National Home.
The following posts were issued grant checks for fundraisers they held. The checks were for $50.00. Post with less than 200 members are eligible and the post must attend the district meeting to collect. Posts 777, 3546, and 4763 were present so they received their grants. Post 4866 and Post 8157 were no present so their grants were not.
Lanny Smith made a mption to give $100.00 to the National Home, second Bud Yoakum, motion passed. Vince Long made a motion to take out $100.00 for a hot dog roast during Illinois Day at the National Home, second Chuck Spencer, motion passed.
Vince Long thanked all for suppoort of his special project for the Illinois Veterans Homes.
Havana Post making Christmas Stockings for military members ovrseas. Assistance from all posts would be appreciated.
