Where did the year go? Is it just me, or did the last year go by faster than we thought? It was a good year, though.
The Chatham Post earned All State recognition during 2006-2007. And, seeing as only four other Tenth District posts can make that claim, that puts us in pretty select company. You can be truly pleased with all you have achieved this past year. I know that I will be very proud to accept the honor on behalf of all Post 4763 members. Well done!
Then there was our $1,000.00 donation to United Cerebral Palsy of Land Lincoln. Lee Morgan and I presented the check, but the UCP of Lincoln Land are very much aware that it was a Chatham Post donation. Incidentally, did you know that Post 4763 has donated more than $27,000.00, to UCP charities over the past 25 years?
You can't help but notice that a lot of changes were made around our post home in the past year. I hear a lot of compliments about how much nicer and fresher the place looks. It's just one more thing you can be proud. I know that I am!
I could go on-and-on; that wouldn't be difficult. I want to save a little space, though, to tell you all how grateful I am for all the support you have given me during my time as Post Commander. As anybody who has had the job can tell you, a Post Commander is only as good as the people he works for, the post members. This is especially true when it comes to the post officers and committee chairmen he must depend upon. In my case, I had the best post members and the best help. Thank you for allowing me to be the commander of an All State Post!
As you must all know by now, we have a new slate of post officers taking their seats in 2007-2008. Do one more thing for me. Give the in-coming post officers the help and support that you gave me. With your backing, I know they cannot go wrong!
I realize this sounds a little like I'm going away for good. That is not at all the case. In fact, once again, I am taking a turn at Post Jr. Vice Commander. If there is anything I can do for Chatham Post 4763, please count on me.
